Fitbit trackers to support active lifestyles for adults with Type 2 diabetes

This project involved adults with type 2 diabetes in the NHS Lanarkshire “Weigh to Go” programme for weight management.

People were provided with a Fitbit activity tracker and their activity was monitored over 30 weeks.

Supporting active lifestyles

This project involved adults with type 2 diabetes in the NHS Lanarkshire “Weigh to Go” programme for weight management.

Activity trackers

People were provided with a Fitbit activity tracker and their activity was monitored over the 30 weeks of the Weigh to Go programme.

What makes people stick with trying to lose weight?

We also interviewed people to understand in practice what things make people stick with activity tracking and weight management programmes.

Healthy behaviour change

We also wanted to understand factors that influence update adoption and maintenance of such healthy behaviour change.

One-to-one interviews

The interviews will focus on the RE-AIM framework which has been developed to evaluate health related interventions.

The main dimensions of RE-AIM are Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation and Maintenance.

Real-life experiences

This study was embedded within an NHS community weight management programme and allowed us to explore the real life experiences of people signed up to the programme.
